G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Postgame (while SNY was in commercial), I saw former journalist now YES man Jack Curry note the prevalence of Mets in Friday night's lineup who were not long ago Buffalo Bisons. He juxtaposed that number (4) with the number of "former" All-Stars (8) the MFYs had and compared the game we just saw to March Madness, with a 15-seed beating a 2-seed.Let me check: MFY record was 2-1/2 games better than Mets' coming into Friday (it's now 1-1/2). MFY's don't play in the Big East and the Mets don't play in the Colonial. Baseball isn't college basketball. A 162-game season isn't a tournament, MFYs don't get a bye. Reputations don't win games. Pitching, hitting and defense do...which the Mets had more of last night than their ranked opponents.Hack Curry drinks a lot of Kool-Aid before every broadcast, apparently.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 I caught some of it , IIRC that guy used to be a decent journo , not anymore. Anytime you think the SNY pre and post game is bad turn to YES and see how truly bad it could be.

Like the top NCAA hoops squads they don't just want calls and breaks to go their way they expect them to. Oh yeah, and they also believe that the regular season IS merely a formality and warm-up for the real season that follows.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 JackCurryYES Jack Curry In post-gm, said Mets started 4 who began yr at AAA, Yanks started 8 AllStars. Called it equiv of 15 v 2 seed. Lazy hometown hack misreports15 hours agoJackCurryYES Jack Curry @nydnraiss Try being unbiased. I said Mets started 4 who began yr at AAA. Yanks 8 All-Stars. That's basis for 15-2 comp. But u left that out
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 JackCurryYES Jack Curry Been a lot of sports talk minutes devoted to idea of Beltran to the Yankees. That's unlikely 2 happen. Not according to virtually every Mets beat reporter making a snarky comment about Beltran liking that short porch last night.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Bucknell, as a 14 seed, beat Kansas, a 3 seed, in 2005.Just sayin'.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2011 Author Posted May 21, 2011 Bob Raissman, calling out Curry:@nydnraissbob raissmanCurry on YES: "A 15th seed (Mets) beating a two seed (Yankees)." What, the Yankees all of a sudden are a 2 seed? Shocking.
