bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2011 Author Posted May 19, 2011 Why can't the Mets hit Livan Hernandez? From Brian Costa today, via Rubin:"Since the Mets released him in August 2009, Hernandez has become a Mets-killer. In six starts against them, he has posted a 1.96 ERA, allowing just 1.09 walks and hits per inning. Against the rest of the league over that span, he has a 4.27 ERA and 1.40 WHIP."

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Well, part of the reason is that they've been a pretty poor team since they released him in August 2009.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Fear not..Livan is somewhere between 45-60 years old.

Brown Junkballin' Grimace, PIN MEDIA RES:Gee through two having faced the minimum, thanks to a 3-6-3 double play from the increasingly-defensively-stout Murphy.Considering they went 1-2-3, Reyes, Thole and Beltran worked Livan a little bit, seeing 20 pitches. Of course, against Senor Frisbee, that's about as meaningful as bailing 20 gallons of saltwater from Titanic.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Gee gave up a walk but that's the only Nationals baserunner so far. Tejada singles to lead off the bottom of the third.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2011 Author Posted May 19, 2011 Get the friggin' bunt down, Dillon.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2011 Author Posted May 19, 2011 Ahem... there's a thread for this already. I'm on a winning streak so I started it.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Was waiting for yours... only, apparently, I can't read a thread list properly. My bad.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 UGH! The Derek Jeter EDGE commercial!
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Thole dropping a slumpbuster into centerfield.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2011 Author Posted May 19, 2011 Question for the floor: would you rather see the Jeter Ford Edge commercial or the anti-smoking commercial with the guy missing his voice box?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Bay rips one --- ups his batting average and his suddenly dfinititve "well-hit average."Foist and second.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 I used to love swimming. And I would rather watch that every day of the week and twice on Sunday before I see Jeter's commercial ever again.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Turner 10 RBI in last 5 games.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Two-out RBI?How gingervating! It's a slumpbusting kind of day, really-- Thole's had a couple of good at-bats already today. Same with Bay.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 The Pirates put that super-shift on for LaRoche too. I was watching and wondering what happened to the thridbaseman. He somehow doesn't seem good enough for that treatment. Worked like a charm, though. So, five innings. Are we allowed to talk yet about that thingie we're not allowed to talk about? At least using oblique and non-specific references?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 So far, so good as they say.Gee-Reyes to be your contestants in the back-to-back HR contest coming up.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 I've always felt the cutoff was 6. You get through six and it starts crossing the mind as a true possibility.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Well Howie just sorta mentioned it, invoking that there was something possibly brewing that hadn't yet happened in 7,849 games...

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 I'm quite certain that Howie starts thinking about it every time the Mets pitcher goes through the first inning 1-2-3.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 When was the last time the Mets had a third baseman as productive as Justin Turner? Ventura? HoJo?Can't think of anybody else lately.
