Big Velocity/Big Movement vs. Big Words/Big Offseason Plans.

Does the light come on for Dickey today? Will Ronny Paulino go nutsy-nutso on a GOOD lefty? Will I regret skipping most of Man U-Chelsea to attend this with Mom and YoungerPooper?

Jose Reyes SS
Justin Turner 2B
David Wright 3B
Jason Bay LF
Ronny Paulino C
Ike Davis 1B
Scott Hairston RF
Jason Pridie CF
R.A. Dickey - RHP

Other things that are pink. The violin that will play the national anthem, the carvel ice cream caps.

Really? Bottom of the seventh and two posts?

No wonder we're down 4-1.

Time for some awesome pinch-hit action.

Two Mets on, one Met out.

Paulino 2-3 and hitting .500. Not much point in pinch-hitting for him.

Citi is about as noisy today when electronic prompting isn't exhorting the masses.

I've shouted myself hoarse trying to maintain "LGM" chants beyond the prompts. Frankly, it-- and the home crowd-- are really fucking terrible.

I've been checking in but I was busy putting rub on my meat and my hands were dirty.

Howie announces a paid crown of just over 26 thousand, pitiful for Mother's Day with nice weather.

Same in my area of the park today. Nobody cares. I get that you're not going to cheer after every second strike but when we're trying to put together a rally in the seventh, make some freaking noise already.

I was disappointed in hitting Hu in the 7th (instead of Beltran) and frankly I want him DFAed as soon as possible. I realize that Beltran did eventually get up to bat but still, I saw the seventh as a much better use of him than waiting for the potential at-bat later in the game.

Some transfer news, retweeted by Rubin

RHP Jeurys Familia has been transferred from St. Lucie to AA Binghamton. #Mets

So what made you decide to assume the role of straight man to FMan ?

Fman is rubbing his meat in anticipation, meanwhile .....Burkhardt

Listening to Sandy Alderson, it sure doesn't sound like we'll be seeing Chris Young anytime soon, or for that matter again as a Met.

Half-decent engagement in 512 today late in the game. Some LGMs that sustained through entire pitch sequences. One guy insisted on telling Wright to DO IT FOR YOUR MUTHA though honestly he was kind of a dick. Lot of small children, presumably a symptom of Mr. Met Dash and Mother's Day.

Mets sucked worse than the crowd.

Burkhardt gets so much in game face time about the stadium that his act is beginning to feel like his very own reality show.

You were in 512? Can't believe I missed you.

Mrs. Solo quite befuddled by the no-promotional giveaway for moms thing.

Ha. Three generations of LWPeople were in 514.

I think I can guarantee you that at least 1-2 of the sustained "LGM"s you heard were out of my lungs, G (assisted by a clapping, yelling 14-mo.-old). Good God, a good number of people were looking at us cockeyed for "LGM"ing in the 7th WITH THE. BASES. LOADED.

Go watch "Thor" or something, cockeye-people. You shame yourselves with your stares and silence. We cheer here (or used ta, anyways).

Hahn, I thought that just maybe I saw you somewhere along the way. Then again, all Mets fans look alike to me.

LW, I fear your voice, like Jason Bay's best efforts at hitting the ball a substantial distance, didn't travel well through the Citi Field atmosphere. But your lungs are appreciated.

I'm just getting the feeling baseball fandom and fan engagement are down all across the country these days.

But are we factoring in all the people tweeting "Let's Go Mets" from their smartphones while at the park?

But that doesn't mean I have to like it, especially when it seeps into my stadium on a Sunday with a chance to sweep and the bases loaded and all the kids hopped up on their Ultra-64-ounce Red Bulls and airplane bath salts drugs, playing with their auto-rapper songs on the Facebooks while the planes above make SO MUCH NOISE overhead, do they have to make such NOISE?

In all seriousness, if it is indeed a nationwide thing, we damn well should be one of the holdouts. We NEED engagement. All we ARE is engagement. What are we, if not spontaneous-"LGM"-spewing, hopelessly-if-warily hopeful, I-wear-the-old-hat-because-that's-how-long-this-team-has-been-killing-me ragtags? We're Astros fans.

Fafif, I was up and down a few times with little Solo so you might have seen me.

Seems like the younguns are influenced by the constant "Make noise" (and really, is there a stupider ballpark innovation than the Noise Meter?) and "everybody clap your hands" that there's no desire to t spark their own LGM chants. And even when they do--and this is what really annoys me about the ballpark atmosphere--the chant is immediately drowned out by the latest scoreboard plea to make noise or clap your hands.

The scoreboard guys are usually decent in my eyes, prompting 'jose jose' when Jose's up and they sense people starting it up. They tried "Let's Go Mets" against the Giants last week to try to drown out the Giants fans. Of course, this was just after Thole struck out on three pitches in the 9th..

No doubt we need to hold out. And I'm not certain I'm right or I'm just reading ambivelance across this country in a broader sense.

The racing from behind to lead the parade never seems to work well.

I wonder what would happen if, save for a little organ music (I was going to say "a little organ," but no sense grooving one into Fman's wheelhouse), we were left to our own devices. Immediately, probably nothing. Over time, maybe something organic.
