TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 5 year, $105 million extension signed.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Madness, am I reading this correctly, this deal takes effect in 2016 for $19 million.Sure he's a good player but wtf would a team do this deal?
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2011 Author Posted April 21, 2011 There's also a mutual option for 2021 worth up to $20 million with a $4 million buyout.I think this makes it all but official that they aren't signing Fielder long-term, which could mean that they are going for broke this year. It's too bad they sold what was left of their farm for Greinke because I'm betting they could use a Reyes rental this season.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 So do you think it's a coincidence that Braun's extension comes on Adolf Hitler's birthday?Y'know ... Braun & Hitler, Hitler & Braun.Thank you, I'll be here all week.

Note that I don't think it's a good gamble.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Trying to get ahead of the Pujols precedent?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Well, now it's the Braun precedent, and it may inform a Zimmerman conttract and a Wright contract.
