PREDICTION: The Mets will eventually go on a torrid, torrid streak that coincides with Paulino's return to the team, and he will receive an inordinate amount of credit for both tangible and ineffable (handling the pitching staff, holding runners, etc.) contributions.

it's not the same thing as assuming Collins is holding something over Murphy and would use it against him in PH spots. A manager who does that it hurting himself at least as much as the player.

Terry has pretty much said 2B is a straight platoon situation so you assume Muffy is going to get about 2/3 of the starts at least for the time being. I write the PH last night off to a R/L move - something I wish he hadn't done but at the same time aren't going to attribute to even a temporary personal vendetta.

1) Love the chew out. Great vicarious theater for those of watching from the comfort of our couches and depths of our despair.

2) WTF does Klapisch know about Jerry Manuel's bones? Do we know Jerry never tried to instill fundamentals in Murphy's head? Perhaps the kid is just errantly enthusiastic by nature (a.k.a. kinda thick).

3) Time of game was 2:59. One minute longer expunges all mercy?

Oh, and cesspool? Is there a kiddie porn ring being run out of Charlie Samuels' old office or something?

Well, It was according a person made aware of the exchange. Which makes it...third hand to Klap? The person that heard it, the person he made aware, and then Klap. Not that I'm doubting it, but that far removed from actually hearing it himself I wonder if he should even use quotes?

I'm getting awfully tired of Kevin Burkhardt paraphrasing in the first person. Last night he did it again, talking about Scott Hairston and his comments about bats made of ash, maple, and birch. A few times during that segment, Kevin would switch between perspectives; "I" would go from meaning, "I, Scott Hairston" to "I, Kevin Burkhardt" and back again.

Yeah, that and the three things listed above you by G-Fafif are about four of the nine things I was speaking of. You don't think he could have asked about two dozen folks for a corroborating statement? Murphy himself, maybe? He might have had a heckuva story, even if they all stonewalled.

Every story Guys Burkhardt tells of that nature reminds me of Felix Unger's inspiring radio tales of heroism, albeit at a less breathtaking pace.

I'm sick of Guys. They used to go to him 2 or 3 times a game but now they're up to 4 or 5 as they try to distract us from thinking about how badly the Mets are playing. And something always happens when he's talking. Save him for rain delays, pre and post-game, etc. but enough w/Guys already.

Well, Game Six, for all it's drama, turned on errors.

That Houston series had stuff like that back door play by Santana. Gorgeous.

The tension was a lot higher in the NLCS, which made the games all the more memorable.

I liked how, last night, Bob Ojeda came out and said what I don't think was ever acknowledged before, when he said to Keith, "You guys (meaning the hitters on the Mets) were afraid of* Mike Scott."

*or did he say "worried about"? Either way, Scott had worked his way into their brains. We all knew it, even then, but I don't think it's ever been stated so flatly by a member of the team before.

That's Jackson Browne, from "Disco Apocalypse". That's how Game Six of the '86 NLCS felt. The only other time I felt it was Game Six of the '99 NLCS as the Mets kept coming back.

So we're 1-1 on the edge of time.
