Aggressive baserunning by Chip Hale, sending Thole home with 1 out. with 2 outs I think its automatic that you send him and with 0 outs you don't. 1 out is where Hale has a really tough decision (which he has to make instantly) and it worked out here!

LGM!

I like it, Heyward has a good arm and it took a good throw perfectly on-line, something that seems pretty rare even in the majors, to make it close.

Gives Wayne more time to "describe" the play before it reaches the air.

I hereby propose we break the curse of the 2-0 lead.

And introduce to the Mets world the blessings of the 5-0 lead.

Weak relay there.

I don't know if they had a chance anyway, but come on, spring training's over, guys.

I don't think Braves' stats should count when they're wearing those red shirts.

Thats a nice way to end the inning, pitcher striking out with the squeeze play on! double play!

Posted

WOW, a two-strike, bases-loaded squeeze attempt?
Thank you Fredi Gonzalez ... and Tommy Hansen for missing it ... and Eric Hinske (runner on 3rd base) for being slow.

I left work pretty convinced that the Braves were about to break the game open. I was wondering how the mets got out of that one.

Wright 0-3, 3 k's now. I know he's still very good, but I think the great player we saw in '07-'08 just isn't coming back sometimes.

Why would you run with Thole there? he's a dead duck on a strikeout, which Hanson and Wright are both good at producing

I think he's taken for granted and run out there every day, every inning through slumps. Howdy Doody woulnd't say so, but he probably could use the occasional day off.

GameDay showed a flat slider down the middle to Davis and I knew he'd tag it.

Death by bunting. My word.

In fairness to Josh, it was a close play and took a perfect throw to get him.

How often do you see that? A guy makes the last out and comes out and fails to make a play in the field.

Probably about as often as you see a guy make a big defensive play and then come up big with the bat the next inning?
