Was it a tough play for Reyes? Did he look at Murphy moving to cover second and give him a look that said, "Let the big boys handle this?"

It would've been tricky/nigh impossible for Murphy to get enough on the throw to get Tulo while coming across the bag (he was headed toward third). Reyes running in that direction did the trick-- complete with under-control sidearm sling to avoid any possible breakup from the runner.
