Thanks KC. One of all-time fave threads.

My first nomination:
Wilpons honoring legacy of Dodgers/Jackie Robinson at the expense of the Mets.

Here's a recap of the previous ones:

"Street Spanish"
"skill sets"
"fix in ten minutes"
"clubhouse lawyer"/Senator Al
"we battled"
"We really liked the schools.'/schools in Colorado
"you know what I'm sayin?"
"meaningful games in September"
"there's no question about it."
Not devastated but disappointed
"he can't be any worse than what we have now"?
New York's gonna love Bill Pecota.
Omar loves Hispanic ballplayers/Los Mets

The Willie Randolph Special Edition:
--Music and facial hair
--The funk
--"When we sip champagne..."
--My guys
--Three in the morning
-- Surrounded by winners

Is Edgy's KC reference to me towards the bottom? I'm not in
the thread, maybe something I said got chopped off?

I think I was just saying that you have a good sense of which references are played out and which ones you can still squeeze some life from.

Curveball of doom and statuesque to describe Beltran's reaction to the curveball of doom should be mentioned.

Wanna know what I'm sick and tired of? People who think it's OK for the centerpiece of the Mets' stadium to honor a Dodger. Most Met fans weren't even alive when the Dodgers played in Brooklyn. The least the organization could have done was to celebrate something with a more tangible connection to the Mets -- like the Mets. But instead, I now have to read even more contrived explanations than before about how the Mets sprang from the Dodgers, all to rationalize ownership's selfish abuse of the Mets legacy. This stadium will no doubt outlast me, but hopefully, the assholes who thought it up and signed off on the blueprints for their midget stadium --or would Fred prefer Pee-Wee stadium?-- are on their way out -- although not soon enough for my tastes. I'll bet anything that for their final act, the Wilpons doom the franchise to years of mediocrity before they finally sell.

^Thread Killer, qu'est-ce que c'est?

The Bobby Bonilla Special Edition
-- "Show you the Bronx"
-- Contract annuity 2035
-- Calling press box to rectify error
-- Fisticuffs in the dugout
-- Clubhouse Poker night (still funny and shouldn't be retired)

Last year a Mets fan (not from CPF) was trying to convince me that Bonilla cajoled Vince Coleman to throw the firecracker out of the team bus. Gimme a break.

I don't get it: We're not supposed to reference these things anymore? Or we are? Or you can, but nobody else can?

Oh, boy. Are we going to red-light-special this one, too?

I like poker night AND "Show you the Bronx" (the latter as long as it's used with discretion, and without too much contortion).

I'm very disappointed we haven't put together a decent Jerry Manuel edition -there's:
- Gangsta

What else?

Has "gangsta" lost all it's currency? Has it been used and misused to the point that meaning been sapped from it? I'm not sure.

I don't think the Jerry regime has been fully analyzed. I think the successes and failures of Willie Ranbdolph's tenure are largely associated with him, while the successes and failures of Manuel's tenure are all about Omar.

In its first 3 months maybe, then it was forgotten. However that does remind me of:

"Addition by subtraction"
