Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Wooly Willy playoff beard?Postgame interviews ranging from candid to performative?"Machine?"Oh, it doesn't end with the championship, as evidenced by a recent talk show appearance, for he's the media gift that keeps on giving. This one's rated "arr."
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Fucks sake , he's nuts and great.......building his second career which will feature a lot of TV.
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 His first foray into TV was a reality show that trailed him for a few months...Life of Brian...it was insipid.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Oh, he's most definitely being a jackass. But it's a crappy talk show. I'll take that 10 times out of 10 over "one game at a time," y'know?
dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 He's an ass whose career will blow up in his face this year...
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Eat your heart out, Ricky Vaughn.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I can't speak for him, but I assume it is some combination of [*:2vq3vjrh]Wisdom born of experience:[*:2vq3vjrh]results for closers tend to fluctuate,[/*:m:2vq3vjrh][*:2vq3vjrh]power pitchers are one injury away from uselessness, and [/*:m:2vq3vjrh][*:2vq3vjrh]he's already one Tommy John surgery into his career; plus[/*:m:2vq3vjrh][/list:o:2vq3vjrh][/*:m:2vq3vjrh][*:2vq3vjrh]Wisdom born from a sense of moral drama:[*:2vq3vjrh]Glory is fleeting, and[/*:m:2vq3vjrh][*:2vq3vjrh]Pride cometh before a fall.[/*:m:2vq3vjrh][/list:o:2vq3vjrh][/*:m:2vq3vjrh][/list:o:2vq3vjrh]Plus there's probably a touch of rooting interest there. Let's go Mets!
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Baseball is a very humbling game.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Wilson would never make in in NY with that act.
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I'm picking up good vibrations from him.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Yeesh. He dresses up like a sea captain and does shtick for interviews. He's not making cameos on Gossip Girl, doing a reality show, or creating a Ryan Braun douchewear line.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I don't know. My math says (regularly making a public show of demonstating one's Christian religiosity) [u:xle67qxb]+ (publickly joking about indulging in sexual tourism in Thailand) [/u:xle67qxb]= sort of begging for a comeuppance.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Oh, and... (drumroll)... DOUCHEWARE!
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I repeat, "not creating a... douchewear line."We'll see.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 He may be an ass, but he's an ass at the top of his profession at the moment, closing out three consecutive postseason series and amassing 127 saves over the past three seasons. More than a Kerfeld/Rocker, neither of whom ever saved the truly enormous games that this guy has.It must be the dead of night in the dead of winter. I'm feeling compelled to defend Brian Wilson.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 He's good, and getting better. The walk rates have gone steadily downward and the strikeout rates steadily upward. He doesn't give up many HRs at all-- 0.51/9 IP for his career so far, with three of the last four years showing less than 0.4/9 (his one "bad" year came with a weird, solitary spike in HR rate). So, yeah, the sub-2 ERA isn't fielding-dependent at all, really; he'd do almost as well playing with 1 OF, 1 IF, and a catcher. This guy isn't Kerfield, or Rocker. He's Harland Williams with a live fastball.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
