After each appearance, Warthen says he receives an update on Perezs performance from bullpen catcher Rafael Arroyo, who accompanied Perez to be a guy that pushes him do his workouts each and every day.

At times, Warthen said, he thinks that Ollie is up-and-down, and his heart isnt as in it as much as it should be at times. But he feels good, and hes getting in shape, and hes working hard, realizing that this is a big year.

Glad they sent someone with him, because i still think not doing that for the WBC was a big mistake.

Mildly disturbing though, about his heart and stuff. Pretty much confirms that he needs a lot more guidence and structure than an average pitcher, which isn't necessarily bad, but I don't trust Warthen to be that guy that goes out there and yells at him when he loses focus and walks a guy after he's 0-2 on him. Question is, were he to make the team, could David Wright be that guy?

I think David will make the team.

In all seriousness, the answer is no. Wright has been a Met every single day that Perez has. He's not going to suddenly become Perez' confidant and motivator. My guess is -- that if anyone were to successfully do that -- it would almost certainly be a member of the pitching staff.

I don't read where he says he is "very hopeful" on Bonser. He's just in there with the rest of the names.
