I was thinking abou this --- about 1 being some sort of default managerial number for press introductions, when I stumbled on this photo.

Number 31, of course, wasn't the number Johnson wore, but it was the number of his most recent non-interim predecessor, who also had it flaunted at his press introduction.



Maybe 31 was the old 1.
