Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Thought we were going to pull that one out.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 It's about time to add Elmer Dessens to the Still Alive thread.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 I am humbled.[/quote:35tic41m]I wasn't really humbled by the **********'s 9th inning single. I only said I was out of diplomacy. Why would I be humbled by some scrub who gets hits in less than 23% of his at-bats?Besides, it was a ground ball up the middle -- a lucky single, in other words. An unintended accident. Does anybody here really think that Frenchy the ********** was aiming to place a ground ball in between the second baseman and shortstop?
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Disappointing game, but great company -I had a lot of fun with The Second Spitter and Lunchbucket.
Guest The Second Spitter Guests Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 That's University of New South Wales.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 That sucked.[/quote:ndhrl5s0]notwithstanding 3 plays at the plate, a late-inning rally, my 1st trip to the Mets HOF, good company, awesome free gifts, nice weather, good seats, box frites, beer, plenty of gossip about you guys, and a seat on the super express, of course.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 So, what you're saying is, Francoeur made outs, while Tejada's worthless ass merely got on-base twice last night?Viva Tejada and his senor superlatives! In all seriousness, if you're looking forward, you can make a case for starting Tejada over Castillo right now (not that it would be the most compelling one, but still). If you take a good look at fact, and you're honest with yourself, there IS no reason you should pencil in Frenchy, who's neither the win-now candidate nor the look-forward candidate.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 That's the problem. Tejada's ongoing performance makes that unsustainable. If you play Francoeur, it's because you sincerely think --- wisely or not --- he's the best candidate to help you win today, tomorrow be damned. But the same argument absolutely has to lead one to give up on Tejada. And that's why a lot of us are scratching our heads. We not only disagree with Jerry; Jerry disagrees with Jerry.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 I know. I know. Maybe Tejada's due.Ugh.
