It's getting to the point where you kinda wish we'd kept Raul Valdes around so we could pinch hit for Tejada with him.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 I like Tejeda up because I hope that Castillo gets with him a lot and imparts stuff to him, and stuff.Like Beltran did with Pagan.Playing experience is one thing. Advice from experienced players is another. And I don't mean just a word here or there. I mean a day to day dialogue.I saw them talking on the bench after T-Boy made that ugly error last game andI thought, yea, this is what I want to see.And Tejeda should get playing time, sure, but in a role of frequent relief for Luis. And he can be a late inning D guy. With Castillo's issues I would not mind seeing him sit out 2 games a week.Like he plays 3 or 4 games in a row then sits one.Keeps him fresh and rested. Keep his foot bottoms free of abuse. If he gets super hot then Jerry can ride him like a reliever.Same goes for T-Boy. If he goes 4 for 4, start him the next day too.If Luis starts making an error a game and stops making contact, then there's T-Boy, ready toget extended playing time. Yay!If Jerry is gonna be a hot hand manager, then play the right cards. That contract is Omar's problem and as stupid as it was, I do not hold it against Castillo in the least. It's what have you done for me lately, and Castillo was doing stuff.Ceetar wrote:The team has subtly given up. ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Hell, Lets complicate it further and bring up Reese Havens 9/1. The Mets should be out of it by then.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Maybe, but that doesn't go far toward explaining what's going on with Tejada now.He hasn't really even hit much in AAA this season.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Surprising to me, Tejada has two more runs scored than Castillo, is equal in doubles and 14 years younger.Next years Mets starting 2B will Be Tejada, Havens or someone else.It is an opportunity to find out more about one of those three options.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 I think we're going in circles. I'm aware of all that. Nonetheless, it seems a premature giveaway to the rest of the season. And if we're playing to get experience for next year's team, I'd like to see next year's manager in charge.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Gammons on Castillo, via Twitter:If Luis Castillo wants out, he should ask out of contract and free the Mets of his obligation. Otherwise, he is without honor, period
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Gammons is alive? There's a good song parody with the thread title based on Van Halen's "Why Can' This Be Love" , I'm not the person to do it though.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 The future is wide open for Castillo... (on another team)
