DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Took in an A's-Royals tilt this week. Beacuse I'm a masochist. They're filming MONEYBALL at the Oakland Coliseum, with Brad Pitt playing Billy Beane (I think this is covered elsewhere).I purchased a program so as to teach my daughter how to keep score. It's really a magazine (I remember it being a much smaller production when I was her age) with in-depth profiles and feature articlesThey have profiles of each Athletics player. 28 of them, in fact. And I realize what a unique GM Beane is. While we lament long-term contracts to Castillo, Cora et al, the A's have three players signed past 2010 (Michael Wuertz, Brett Anderson and Kurt Suzuki, who only inked the extension LAST WEEK), with another pair (Coco Crisp and Eric Chavez) bound by club options for 2011. That means virtually the entire roster can be turned over by Opening Day. Damn.In your opinion: good thing or bad?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 I like it. A's 54-53. Beane would have sold Frankie Rodriguez. I don't think his approached would be too well received in NY.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 It'd be nice to have the option of dumping K-Rod for free after this season, or re-signing him to a new contract, but the Mets (and the A's) wouldn't have gotten him in the first place for two seasons only.

Beane does seem to sell closers when he can.
