What did you keep hammerin' Frank to get for you? A reliever or a bench player or what?

Well, I thought he did it in 1985 when he got Knight and Teufel.

Um, he got Knight in late '84. He got Johnson in 1985. And what about Carter?

Now get out of the booth. You're jinxing us.

Davey is a consultant for the Nationals. Why couldn't the Mets hire him? I'm sure his knowledge would be an asset, especially with his connections to USA Baseball.

I think Niese has been distracted by this amazin interview with Mr Johnson.

This inning sucks. Either suit Johnson up or get him out of there.

I found that most enjoyable.
I'm gonna have to re-watch that after we come back and win this one.

It certainly didn't go down well.
Five straight hits and it's 0-3 Gemstoneballsacs.

Great play by Niese to stop his bleeding.

The problem with hiring Johnson is that it would be suffocating to Manuel to have him in the wings.

When the Angels hire Whitey Herzog as a consultant, their manager thinks, "What a great asset!" When the Cardinals hire Whitey Herzog as a consultant, their manager thinks, "Oh shit!"

OE: Not that I don't want him. Sometimes I worry the game has passed him by. Othertimes I think, "Not in a good way."

I missed all of this.
Should I put it on my rewatch list?

I have not had a drink and yet I'm seeing double.
Two 3 run homers by LaBug?
Shista!

This booth stuff might be jinxing but it is pretty kool to hear much of what is being said.

Something is going our way.

great play by Reyes.

WTF!?
If this wasn't Citi LaRoche has 3 dingers.

I wonder about that too. I'd certainly welcome a restoration of Davey Johnson, though. I'd be just as happy to see him come back as I would Bobby Valentine.

This is Outta control Kelly!

That's why I follow that other team Rege.
Well, that and I'm a ditzy ho.

I would never call you ditzy Kell.
Hows the kids?

If this was a bar I'd be wondering where all the patrons went. Was there a bomb scare or something?

But this is a Met message board and they just let the Reptilianrears tear em a new one.

Woe is us.

I do appreciate that he got through this nightmare with only three pitchers and wish he was more willing to let pitchers throw multiple innings when they're doing well.

I'd be more inclined to just chalk this game up to one of those 'Suck Days' you have every once in a while -- y'know, if you're going to not hit, not field, and not pitch, you might as well not do them all at the same time -- if it weren't the 5th loss in 6 games against one of the bottom-feeders.

Niese handles the Cards easy and the Mets have no problem with Adam Wainwright. Five days later, Niese can't do a thing (after three innings) with the D'Backs and Daniel Hudson cruises.

Weird game, this baseball. They should really put a warning label on it.

This team sucks. Sell the team to someone who can handle it. Hire a GM who can form it, and Bobby V to manage it. Four years of horseshit it in a row is enough.

I was there today , got a call this morning asking if I wanted tickets, the pre-game ceremony was nice. I thought it might be louder but it's hard to tell when you are there , especially at Citi Field. It was really great to hear from Cashen and Johnson , need to see those two around the place more.

I have expected Gooden to talk about recent events , then I remembered he's not a politician and owes me nothing. He got a good laugh when introducing his family he reminded everyone that " I've got a lot of kids, this might take some time".

Strawberry was the only one to thank the WIlpon's by name , probably gave the best overall speech , he looks and sounds great. I thought he might end his speech with a plug for his new restaurant but he's got class.

The game started great and I thought we were in for a good day , then the arse fell out of it and that was that , the friend I brought with me is a MFY fan and he was sooooo impressed with Citi Field , with the Mets down 8-1 I took him around the whole place, at one point he remarked to me that he liked it a lot more than the new MFY stadium, says he wants to take his young girls there .

The Mets HOF & Museum was worth the price on it's own , like an eegit I posed with the 1969 WS trophy, bought the kid a Mets cap and after getting home turned right around and brought the mother in-law to JFK.....and the traffic was a nightmare coming back in to the Bronx both times.

Stopped at the way over-rated Five Guys Burger joint on the way home.

My favorite moment from the ceremony - Gooden and Strawberry -

I also found this moment between Carter and Davey to be touching -

The line of the day was Gooden's - "It's great to be home again."
