I'm surprised there's no IGT already since they seem to be started at least two days in advance these days. At any rate I'm jumping in to start my first of the season and change the mojo for the Mets.

Old & busted Tim Hudson starts for the Braves while new, future Cy Young winner Mike Pelfrey starts for the Mets. Expect some ass-kicking by the Mets offense and a complete silencing of the Braves bats.

I'm ready!

I'm crazy about Reyes hitting second. I dislike him bunting second.

Reserving the right to change my mind, but I kind of liked Kevin Millar last week, until late in the game, anyway, when I hated everybody. There was a hint of Dizzy Dean to him. I had dreaded the Buck-McCarver combo, per usual. Buck still sucks, but at least it was different.

Albert's a pro (a legacy broadcaster who appears to have worked at his craft, as opposed to Joe Buck). Hopefully he'll keep Millar on the relatively straight and narrow. I think he has potential. Couldn't believe how much I didn't hate Millar, actually. I hate Eric Karros, to use an example of Fox dragging someone into the booth just off the playing field. Mark Grace is another one who's awful.

A Mets win makes everybody sound better...except for Joe Buck. And I didn't care for his father either.

Adam Rubin says that word in the clubhouse is that the Mets might open the 2011 season against the Marlins in Puerto Rico. Nothing against Puerto Rico, but after watching Reyes get hurt on the artificial turf, how can they agree to this?

Also, Beltran bats cleanup on Thursday.

Was just readin the Post.
About Reyes.
So its an oblique, not a quad, and they are different things, aren't they?
I love when my own words reveal my own stupidity.

Is there a doctor in the house?!

Fox will say "watch the All Star Game on Tuesday! This one counts!"[/quote:3nnzxntt]

Cali CPFers: How are those Orange County beaches this time of year? They look fantastic in the ASG commercial!

A friend of mine who attended Mets games at the Polo Grounds and was at Shea for the first-ever night game is making his Citi Field debut today. Win this one for Joe!

Rubin says that Jose doesn't think that he got hurt in Puerto Rico:
AdamRubinESPN
The Mets originally suggested Jose had a back issue related to the San Juan turf. Jose dismissed it, saying it was an oblique issue

Is Pelf getting squeezed a little, or is that just my lyin' blue-and-orange eyes?

Me, from yesterday:

Reyes should be up on the shelf.
He is our switch hitting speedster lead off hitter. If he's too injured to do two of those things, I don't think he should play.
He is a WAY to important cog in our engine.
If he ends up injured for any long length of time, we are in serious trouble.

Mike Vacarro from todays Post:
"They don't need to see Reyes go away for 15 days. They do not need to see their engine go on the same shelf where he spent most of 2009."

Hey Mike, why don't we actually get together and bash out these articles.
We can put my desk right across from yours. ;)

(actually, I can see why you make the big bucks. You said it in two sentences.)

The Foxheads do their Wright yakkin.
How many times did Willie Mays strike out the year (mid 60s) he smacked 50?

In '65, Willie Mays hit 52 HR and struck out 71 times.

Kevin Millar: Veteran. Gritty. Does not understand the difference between "correlation" and "causation."

The Marlins don't want to take both of their fans away from seeing Opening Day in person--from Adam Rubin:
Marlins president David Samson told the Miami Herald he would not shift the season-opening series against the Mets from Miami to the island.
