G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 When they're done managing the Mets, not many continue to manage at the major league level. Only six of nineteen Met managers have ever gotten another MLB pilot gig, and five of those seemed very "who ya know" in nature. Examined here.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 I tried to think, without peeking, who the six were. I got Berra, Johnson, and Torre easily.I had got Westrum and Torborg pretty much by process of elimination, but never would have gotten Bamberger. (He was one of the ones I eliminated. I completely forgot about his post-Met fate.)

I should write a post about that book in the What are You Reading thread. Ryczek wrote what might be the best Mets book ever (historical category).
