batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Maybe Pagan took the pitch because it wasn't to his liking. Or are we gonna start blaming Jerry whenever a Met batter takes a called strike?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 I certainly endorse that possiblity.By the way, one more bunt-free tilt this afternoon.Jerry's transforming himself before our eyes and we're talking about a butterfly flapping its wings.

Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Could it be? Has Jerry the Robot loaded a new program? Time will tell.

(Mitigating my point somewhat, PedroDos has been used in 5 of those same games.)
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 I connect that to another pattern. He gains confidence in a guy, elevates him, uses him until he melts down, then loses confidence and buries the guy just as fast. But that's not a bunting issue. Know what's a bunting issue? One more game this evening without a sacrifice. It's stunning.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Alls I know about that Pagan bunt situation (probably was just looking at a pitch for Reyes) in the 1st inning of todays ball game is that Reyes should have stolen second base way before Davis was up and/or well into his at bat, if he was going to do it at all.I know that there were a ridiculous amount of throw overs to first, but I think it's bad baseball in that spot to run when there are 2 out and Davis has two strikes on him.Davis K'd.I don't wanna blame anyone in regards to this. But you can see who I would if I was gonna.Baseballs funny. It could have distracted the pitcher, the result being a fat pitch to Ike.It didn't.I think more so its possible it could have distracted Davis who had 2 strikes on him and needed all the focus he's got.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 I think showing bunt can be a great strat/maneuver if done at the right time. Like when you have already decided to take a pitch. Was it a strike?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 And like when you're Jose Reyes and want to challenge a guy to shift his position.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 You know, I created this big, sweet, twenty-gallon punch bowl of a thread. And now you, Valadius, and you, Ceetar, have laid about ten turds in it.I can keep fishing turd after turd out of it. I don't mind that. I'm real persistent that way. But sooner or later, the other posters, it won't matter to them how many turds I haul in. They just aren't going to drink my punch. Worse, they're going to leave the whole party... talking bout, "That's was surreal, man. He was just going to keep going in there fishing out those turds all night. And those two other guys were just somehow able too keep at it, laying turd after turd. They had, like, inexhaustble turd resources. It was like being stuck in some avant-garde film --- and I won't lie to you, the other fare at that party was great --- but it was like being stuck in some Scandanavian avante-garde film with a perpetual motion machine of turd-laying and turd-fishng."So thanks.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Maybe Manuel just had the AL mindset in his head with the impending road trip and stopped thinking about bunting cause he knew he'd be able to use his animal-dh Carter and he'd drive in a Ortizian 25 runs on the trip.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 I recently read that the shark used in Jaws was found in a junk yard in California. You would think I have a joke here but......I got nuthin. This is just my Jaws update that I send out once every ten years.
