metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Both NY teams stagger in to Citi Field tonight. Since beating Boston 10-3 two Friday's ago the MFY's have won five and lost eight . Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 I like our chances this weekend. The MFYs are looking a little less than terrific lately, won't have the DH, and the Return of Gangsta Jerry has lit my fire.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Obviously this doesn't really mean anything, but Yanks are 5 out of first place, Mets are 6. The series' are always better when both teams are playing decently, but in this case, both playing badly works.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 The Yanx are actually having a weird kind of season so far in that in a lot of ways they're getting better contributions from no-name irregulars than they are from their high-priced starters.C - Posada was hitting but playing only occasionally with a foot which now turns out to be broken and has landed him on the DL, Meanwhile, Francisco Cervelli is hitting .357/.432/.471.1B - Teixeira started horribly and is only somewhat better lately (.214 BA). 1B/DH Nick Johnson is ... wait for it ... on the DL and needs wrist surgery2B - Cano was great in April but has cooledSS - Jeter has a .319 OBA3B - ARod has just 6 HRs and most of those in the last week or two.OF - Granderson in on the DL and Swisher has been merely OK, but Brett Gardner and Marcus Freakin' Thames have much betterWhat's been good is their pitching, Sabathia and Burnett as expected (except their last starts) but Phil Hughes in particular. And you think our bench is patchwork, try Ramiro Pena (IF), Randy Winn (OF), Juan Miranda (DH/OF) and I don't even know who the new backup catcher is.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 The backup catcher is Chad Moeller (all glove, no hit); he's been around forever. This is a rare weekend series with all night games, plus an off-day Monday, so they may just start Cervelli all 3 games.

Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 That is possibly the most ugly, embarrassing outfit ever. How can someone be seen in public in that get-up and not feel shame and scorn? It's like a billboard advertising "I am stupid and need Mommy to lay out my clothes in the morning."Oh, and Steinbrenner in the plaid slacks looks bad, too. But he looks great standing next to Martin in that....costume.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 He definitely perfected the old man look early on with the slacks pulled way up.
