Your Buffalo Bisons have won nine in a row, and have pulled within 5 1/2 games of their Scranton-Wilkes Barre Yankees in the race for the International League's North Division. Their three games behind the Louisville Bats in the wildcard race.

Last night's game was a 9-4 victory over the Pawtucket PawSox and their new firstbaseman Carlos Delgado. Delgado went a mere 0-2 before being lifted. Nicke Evans, however, however, showed him how it was done, going 2-5 with a double, 2 RBI, and a run scored. Lucas Duda added his sixteenth and Kirk Nieuwenheiss his seventeenth on the season, but his first at AAA. Bridesmaid Chad Cordero fanned two in a scoreless ninth.

Jesus Feliciano needs to start piling up at-bats fast if he's going to qualify for his batting average title.

Buffalo was chilled last night by a shooting outside a downtown restaurant leaving four dead. Lets hope the streaking Bisons can give some degree of comfort. But man.

Staying 5 games back in the loss column (and 2 in back of the wild card leader, Louisville), with a 7-6 home win over Rochester, during which Dillon Gee set a Buffalo season record for Ks (throwing 8, for a total to date of 144 in 145 innings), Brazoban and Cordero threw scoreless frames, and Russ Adams and Justin Turner* hit it over the wall.

*Justin Turner last night: 3-4, HR, BB, 2 R, 2 BI.
Justin Turner this season at AAA: .311/.376/.464... which seems to be the equivalent of a .694-.695 OPS in the majors, with decent defense and versatility.
Justin Turner up in the majors instead of Ruben Tejada? Megdal, Toby Hyde, and a handful of others say "yes."

Add me to that handful. I think we're doing no favors to the Mets, Castillo, or Tejada right now. Plenty of time for Tejada to be a defensive sub in September.

I get the idea, though, that nobody thinks of Turner as a viable option at short.

Pretty sure we have a shortstop.

I like the idea of getting Tejada some experience, but it looks like he's clearly overmatched right now. I'd give Turner a shot.

Turner's played a little third and first, too.

When you're filling out a bench, versatility's a key tiebreaker, especially when the team's carrying three catchers.
