Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 What's with all the DHing in Port St. Lucie? Is this something new this year?Seeing Lackey and Cameron in the Sox starting lineup reminded me of this thread.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 the DH infuriates me a bit. It's probably because they have a bunch of extra guys they want to try out, like Jacobs/Murphy/Davis at first and such. But they've been raelly pushing the defense drills with the Pitchers, so why not offense as well? It's such an overlooked area by so many teams, but just a little bit of focus on hitting with pitchers can often go a long way even if it's just to teach pitchers how to look for and swing at what is usually the "throw it down the middle" approach to pitching to pitchers.Remember last year when Jerry claimed he wasn't going to use the DH at all (and then proceded to use the DH in non-televised games?)

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 The Red Sox are my early pick to win the AL. Their lineup looks fierce even at half strength.Do you know how good you have to be to have 2 catchers?!?

Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Can David Ortiz get up from a crouching position on his own?

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 Yes, it's the SNY telecast that they show. On Tuesday, though, they showed a different game in the 1 p.m. slot. (I think it was the Nationals, but I'm not sure.) The Mets game was shown later, at 11 p.m.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Yeah, whenever I check MLB Network, it's usually the Nationals or Orioles. The other day was Washington vs. Detroit.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 David Lennon says it's starting to drizzle and there are menacing clouds overhead.John Lennon says he can show you that when it starts to rain, everything's the same.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 Mets already down 2-0 with two out in the top of the first. Pelfrey's given up three hits.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 Inning ends with an out at third after the third run scores on another hit.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 Mets retired quietly in the first. Pelfrey returns to the mound with a strong 1-2-3 inning and two strikeouts.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Spring is like this and pitchers are just getting their work in and blah-blah-blah, but none of their four established starters has logged a strong appearance yet, I think.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Tobi Stoner just sent down J.D. Drew. That's nice.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 Raining heavily now. Two out bottom of the fourth.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Hah! It's not official and it won't count!
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 Game is underway again. All starters have been pulled except for Jacobs and Coste.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Mets down 8-2. The runs have come on solo shots by Jacobs and Pridie.
