It would probably be fine in New York but it would never happen because the Mets don't have to be good or fan-friendly to sell tickets.

That being said, I would obviously ask about why starting pitching was not addressed in the off-season.

AGM style meetings are still common in soccer, although that may only be at clubs where the fans have shares.

My question might be to ask them to take me through a five year plan for the org.

The other thing is that Toronto needs to assure their fans that they're on the right track even after dealing away Halladay and others.
It's one thing for fans to be wary after a bad season or about player(s) not signed from elsewhere, but dealing away a franchise-type player is a sure sign that the club is taking a step back and some convincing is needed that the strategy will be the right move in the long run.

The problem with announcing five-year plans is they're taken as promises.

The plan may be right now to re-sign Jose Reyes during or after the season. But announcing it gives Reyes a ton or two of leverage --- the plan is at stake --- but also locks them in when Hanley Ramirez or somebody may appear on the marketplace.

IF they include specific proposed transactions, yes. Tenets or governing principles-- "we aim to stay young and athletic at shortstop, and emphasize offensive value as much as defense from the middle-infield positions"-- is just as descriptive, without mooring you to specific players.

Minaya has said as much numerous times, though, hasn't he?

And then made moves to the contrary. (Seen any moves made to substantively improve the team's pitching, speed or defense?)

Well, I'm shooting at a moving target here.

Well, yes... an object that you set in motion tends to remain in motion.

All I'm saying is, I like the Anthopoulos tack. (Zduriencik presided over a similar "Get to Know Us"/FanFest thing last year-- Aaron Heilman's one public appearance as a Sea-Man, IIRC.)

And did he actually lay out a specific five-year plan? I didn't see anything in the MLB article like that.

I'll root for the Nats when they close shop and move back to Montreal.

I'd be better off getting my own 5 year plan past 5 weeks & not be wondering about the Mets.
