Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Please vote four, to potentially carry the legacy forward.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 The bottem four look good to me.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Alfonzo, Jarvis, Strawberry, Walker.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 I went for Jane Jarvis and Darryl Strawberry.

HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 I have a hard time believing that the Mets, after not inducting anyone for so long, would actually add Fred to their Hall at the next ceremony. I would think they'd want to avoid the "They're only doing this to honor Fred" sniping that might occur.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Oh, absolutely. But we're trying to go with what we advocate here, not necessarily what we expect them to do. And we don't really have to worry about bad publicity or tonedeafness.I like to think that it's a pretty good bet that, in the real world, Doubleday and Wilpon go in together a few years from now, whether Nelson can bring himself to graciously shake or not.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 This was the hardest -- first time I would have wanted to vote for more than four. I gave a deserved but little-supported vote to Ron Hunt.
dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Ron Hunt, Jane Jarvis, Darryl Strawberry, Rube Walker
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Darryl, Fonzie, Jane and Rube. If Fonzie somehow earns an invitation to Spring Training and a spot on the roster, consider his vote forwarded into the future and Ron Hunt in his place. Probably the omission I'm sorriest about here, but Jane deserves to ride her tidal wave a little longer. They both had big 1964s, you know.

Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 I have to think they need to wait for Fred to retire before they can add his bust, especially when there are so many players who need to go in, first.Ideally, this should be geared toward fans, and few people cheer the owner or will pay to see him. That said, Fred was really nice to me when we met in 1994 at a spring game. We were sitting fairly close together, and we chatted for a while -- about the white caps, actually!

And, as I said, I think I should've cut him and other 99ers off for the time being.I guess I'm a little surprised at the Ron Huntiness of the electorate in an election where Jeff Kent went voteless.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 This was a tough one and I chose Wilpon over Fonzie and Walker over Hunt
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Alfonzo, Jarvis, Strawberry, Walker.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Fonzie, Straw, Rube and Wilpon. Hunt stood out on a bad bunch, but had too short a run (four years) in Queens for my vote.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Okay, I'll play nice and vote for 4 candidates. StrawberryWilponWalkerAlfonzo
