Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Thanks to some use-or-lose vacation days I have to burn, LWBH (with LWKickerPooper in belly) are headed to Cooperstown for a last-minute two-day getaway (Ommegang Brewery tour/tasting, the art museum, and some musty sports museum). Leaving in 4 hours, straight from work. We're staying at the Inn @ Cooperstown, and have already peeped the websites for the places to which we're headed. What, apart from the obvious stuff, do we not want to miss while we're there? Hell, what OBVIOUS stuff do we not want to miss? (Any particularly good/intriguing memorabila palaces outside? Restaurant recs? You-must-take-a-photo-here spots?)
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 The Farmer's Museum is worth a look, only for the Cardiff Giant.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 We thought so, too-- sadly, t'is closed for the season.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Never been there , can't wait to go. Bring us back some rock.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Bring your credit card. And the other credit card for when you max out the first one. It's a baseball lover's shopping paradise!Have fun
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Other than the Giant and the Opera, there's nothing else to do. It's such a beautiful little town... even if baseball wasn't invented there, it should have been. Count the number of stoplights in town. If you're not within walking distance of the Hall, park near Doubleday Field. And make sure that you go into Doubleday Field and looked around. Have a great time!

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 The main street (all 4 or 5 blocks of it) has some memorabilia shops but I don't recall there being anything particularly notable about them.Have you been to Cooperstown before? We went last year (my second trip) and I still needed 2 days to absorb all of the museum.
Guest Number 6 Guests Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 I would say the Ommegang Brewery, but I see you're already on it. Have fun.
