I loved that picture and had it on my Mets wall formany many years. Oh the stuff I ruined with cheap tape from Woolworths ...Yup. Me too.I could only imagine what the originals of those drawings would take in right about now.Stark was a friend of my father's for a time and a great caricaturist who did a lot of TV/movie stuff as well as sports.I had a few wall posters of his - Get Smart & F-Troop IIRC - which I wish I had kept in better shape and hung onto.Cant find the F troop, but I do recall it.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 That's the 'Get Smart' one I was thinking of but now that I see it I realize that it's a Jack Davis (Mad Mag) not Bruce Stark. In looking up the Stark stuff earlier I read how he had done posters for various TV shows and I assumed that the one I had was his. Nope.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 I suspected that you might've gotten Jack Davis and Bruce Stark mixed up. David did a lot of work for TV Guide Magazine from the mid-60's though the 70's. He caricatured most of the shows you referred to in your post.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Brilliant.I think there's also a Spanish-language version of the Taveras one. Either that, or it's reversible.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 That's not an actual Willie Mays jersey you're wearing in the photos, is it?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 That would be like using the Shroud of Turin as a bath towel.
Guest dcrules01 Guests Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 No it's a mitchell and ness as well as the Dykstra road and the Youngblood and Mazzilli home. I don't wear my gamers lol not that I would fit into them anyways.

Here's what you're missing from the 1980 Magic is Back ad campaign besides the Mazzilli subway strip insert that was displayed inside MTA trains above the seating benches:A huge Magic is Back Lee Mazzilli poster (about 4' x 4' or perhaps even larger) This hard to find (but I have one) subway poster contains the same photography and copy that is on the Mazzilli strip --- but the layout is different because the subway poster is square while the strip is rectangular.A Magic is Back subway poster (rectangular and not as large as the aforementioned Maz poster) including photographs of practically every single 1980 Met. Even Ed Glynn.

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Junk in the trunk and junk on my desk. This paperweight's been on my desk for years. And years. I never use it. In fact, it always ends up underneath all of my other junk, counter-purpose. It looks like a stadium giveaway, but I don't specifically recall how or where I acquired it.Dave Kingman and new Mets George Bamberger and George Foster.
