I never really thought about it until now, but is this the last card
the Mets sent out to fans? I think it's the last one I got (insert
cheap-ass Wilporganization thingie here) and it's from 2006 ...

I was sorry the "people's team" thing never took off. Going into 1980, you could literally count the people who pledged allegiance to the Mets.

Even the douchiest, geekiest Met dweeb never laced their sneaker that way.

Won this earlier in the season in a GKR charity raffle. It's actually a
pretty cute book if you know someone who's pop-up children's book
age.

Google Books has most every Baseball Digest available in fairly wieldy navigation form. Plenty of issues from the '70s and '80s. I discovered BD in 1972 and at one point owned every issues from 1974 to 1988.

go to: books.google.com

Enter: Baseball Digest (first choice that comes up)

Click on: Browse All Issues

You'll find: A listing of every decade from 1940 to 2000

Click on: Any decade you like; you'll find thumbnails for every available issue in that span

Go: Nuts

UGH!
I just had an orgasm.

(yea, I'm that far behind [and easily excited] here)

Today is house cleaning and organizing day over here. I was going through some old stuff and came across this piece of Mets memorabilia. I stored it in a box decades ago (with other junk) and then forgot about it until today. Years (and years) ago, the Daily News ran a two-page centerfold caricature of the Mets, and then licensed that caricature for etching onto a glass mirror. The prior owner of this item told me that these glass mirrors were produced in limited quantities and are scarce. I have no idea how accurate that story is, or how rare this glass is. But I own one of these.

How many Mets in the glass can you identify? Each Met is identified by last name on his cap, which I blacked out.

One guess per post.

Subjective trivia question: Which Met or Mets ought to have been included in the caricature, but wasnt/weren't?

Does one guess per post mean one guess per person?
Hope not.
I wanted to give others a chance but I can't wait any longer ><

3, leftmost (with guitar) - Bud Harrelson?

One guess per post. Not one guess per poster.

I don't know who the artist it, FK.

I remember seeing the original drawing in the Post at the dawn of the 1977 season as well as the mirror version for sale at TSS. Rigby was a horrible artist. The 1977 Mets were a horrible team.

Actually, I'm beginning to think Section 7 is Mike Vail. Can't have too many Mike Vails.

This makes more sense than the history related to me by the prior owner. The artwork looked more Postish than Newsish to me, but I deferred to the prior owner's supposed knowledge.

I'm beginning to think that this mirror is about as rare as that Christmas gift Ralph Kramden purchased that was made from matchsticks once owned by the Emperor of Japan.
