Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 6:00 game today -- 4:00 local time so the conditions should be a bit better anyway. They got a break from the fact that the other three series all wound up a sweeps so there's no need to shun this series to the ghetto time slots anymore.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 These TBS games have the oddest of starting times...
Guest Number 6 Guests Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Even the relatively quickly-paced games are significantly longer, it seems to me, due to the stretching of the typical commercial break from just under 2 minutes to about 3. Combine that with more pitching changes than the average regular season game and that's a lot of extra time.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 To their credit, most of the Phils fans I know aren't gloating about being one-away the same way most of the Yank fans I know were after Game 2 Friday night.Could it be that they realize what a gift they got in the doubly-blown ninth-inning call on Utley, and that braggarts' talk would be gauche? The 2 AM thing may have something to do with it, too.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Nice play by Fowler!
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Fowler going from first to second on a sure DP jumped clear over Utley and is save at second. Needs to be seen really.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 He'll of a catch from Francisco that saves two runs , Manuel switched him is as part of a double switch .
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Yorvit up your ass, Madson.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Gotta love this game, Rockies take the lead on hits from Giambi and then Yorvit plates two.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Nothing but heartburn these closers are.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Geez. The Rockies don't deserve this.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Geez. The Rockies don't deserve this.[/quote:2heak4s4]By 'this' I mean, winning. The Twins and Rockies have really shown some rotten execution this postseason.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Papelbon yesterday, Street today. Makes you wonder if it's worth giving any closer, other than Rivera (sorry), big money.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Bang bang play my arse , Young was out by a foot.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 And the Phillies win the damn thing.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Gotta hate this game at times.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Huston Street, you just made the list.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 At least we got one non-sweep out of this round. MLB (and their TV partners) are definitely getting hit with short series lately. Long games but short series aren't a good combination. Need to reverse that. This one was a pretty good series over all. 3 of the 4 games were close and the final two ending with Lidge getting Tulowitski w/tying & winning runs on base makes for some good drama.
Guest Number 6 Guests Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 It seems that any team I pull for this season falls apart rather spectacularly.
