Oh, Keppel! Nothing but fastballs, my friend.

OK, I'm all in for the Twins now.

Jumping on board the bandwagon in my underwear, I am.

Cargo didn't even break his chin on the plate.

Quick let's trade them Santana again.

I didn't like the prospect of seeing the Tigers go to Yanqui stadium with Verlander not available until game 3 and closer Rodney fried for who knows how long.

I think if I were running things, that would be a club
soda type celebration. Tomorrow afternoon is gonna
come real quick with a plane ride in between.

Kepple --- from minor league free agent to hero.

Except in Detroit, where he mercilessly destroyed an entire city.

Detroit gives Mets fans a reprieve... it's petty, and I don't know any Tigers fans, but it's nice to have some OTHER team shit themselves the last week and choke away a playoff spot instead of watching us do it.

Tiggers blew a 7-game lead with 26 to go.
Not quite as bad as Mets '07, but it's getting there.
Of course the Detroiters didn't help their case by blowing several separate leads in the play-in game.

Stopped in at a pub near work just after work to catch the end of it... and ended up staying for three hours. Hell of a game.

And it's a nice reminder of how great a game this is, when it's not carrying the freight of audience expectations, unmet expectations, and various/sundry what-ifs.

I look forward to the Sabathia walkakke.

The Tigers blew a 3 game lead with 4 games left. They were the first team in MLB history to do that.

In his defense the ball was hit hard and right to a guy playing shallow. Usually the runner has that extra moment he took to get his footing proper before taking off.

Maybe. After seeing on the replay it almost seemed he was so focused on tracking the ball that he lost his bearings along the base path.

Oh, he prolly did.

Anyway, the Tigers really coughed that one up, even if they caught a break on the Inge HBP.

In addition to all the comebacks in yesterday's game, and all the ground made up on Detroit over the last 2-3 weeks, the Twins had to overcome two of the worst 'beats' you'll see in one season.

- The 'Worst. Call. Ever.' game
First they manage to blow a 12-2 lead, then they apparently re-tie the game only to be screwed by a game-ending horrid call.
* CPF discussion
* Boxscore

- and the Joe Nathan meltdown of a few weeks back where, with a 2-run lead, he gets the first two outs of the 9th inning before giving up back-to-back HRs followed by two walks
He was then yanked and his replacement allowed the inherited runs to score -- Boxscore

Both of those were the type of game where you said at the time that if they lose the division by 1 game THIS is going to be the one that haunts them
