To commemorate the first anniversary of the final game at Shea Stadium, two teams that barely exist will play baseball before disappearing into the mists.

Except, unlike Shea, they'll be back next year.

That's the one that gets me too. Murphy leads off the 9th with a triple in a tie game, and he gets stranded there.

I was sure, at first, that he was going to score the winning run. David Wright following with a strikeout pricked my gonfalon bubble, and it all went downhill from there.

To think that they stormed back into that game on a Delgado grand slam, then couldn't drive in a guy from 3rd with 0 outs ... disgusting. Only thing worse would have been Muffy getting thrown out at 3rd, which he almost did.

Mets turn a 2 on, 0 out situation into crap again by relying on loser strategies like the sac bunt and the David Wright.

Wright's head continues to be anywhere but in the game as he fails with 2 on and then makes an error. Meanwhile, his buddy made a great play on the Pagan sac bunt.

7th inning: another sac bunt. Why does Jerry even have to be there? It's automatic. And of course, the Mets don't score. Jerry gives away outs as if the rest of the lineup is filled with RBI machines.

Castillo may have sac bunting on his own - in which case Jerry's got to get himself a 'No Sac' sign and flash it every once in a while.
When a guy is in the top 10 in the NL at not making outs for the entire season, making an out on purpose when there's only nine left isn't really a good idea.

I don't think Wright throwing the ball away on a charge-n-throw play (which Tatis c/should have had or at least blocked) is exactly proof of not having his head in the game.
