Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 ...And that is that for my inaugural season at Citi.Merch in the team stores was marked down by 30% which makes it seem like they're clearing out for next year already. New unis and all on the way for '10, and a metric ton of stuff with the "inaugural season" emblems on them. Off to Africa or wherever it winds up.Met KC in the Soupcan seats and I announced my intention to keep score and actually did through 2.1 innings. By then we were on the way to a "new" Korean and Chinese food stands at the World's Fare area. I hadn't yet been there and thought it was odd they were adding a new vendor with only 5 games to go. Who bailed out I wondered? The new guys were giving away free fried chicken legs and kim-chee in little cups, quite good. Strange scene: Asian woman with limited English skills gave me $$ to buy her a beer, she forgot her ID, or more likely didn't have one. By the time I did it was 11-2 and we were in trouble. The DP not turned was big, but so was Wilson Valdez making the 3rd ouyt in the 2nd and not clearing the pitcher. I truly thought we had a prayer then.We wound up watching from the "standing-around" area at the Pepsi Porch. An usher tried to coax a bribe to have us sit down there, and eventually let us in for free. KC finally bailed to get train; I stayed till the end hoping for Jeremy Reed or Cory Sullivan to hit me a home run.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Was the stand inside the World's Fare Market or right outside of it?Did it replaced the misshapen zeppoli, which weren't round and, thus, were merely fried dough?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 It was inside, against the wall opposite the entrance. Anyway, the Korean food was from a Manhattan joint and the Chinese all the way from Flushing.I'm a kimchee-at-the-ballpark guy. Great with beer!
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Against the wall across from the entrance they had Cuban sandwiches and inadequate garlic fries. The Asian fare sounds like an improvement.
