Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Following teammate David Wright, Francoeur has secured new larger equipment to prevent further injury.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I'd buy that glove if there was one on ebay.Did the game start late? It's almost 9:00 and I just started payingattention and it's the bottom of the first?(and one HR as I'm typing)

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 The highlight of my night now is seeing the "Dos Equis" guy. Stay thirsty, my friends.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 FK: 8:40 starting time <<<I was thinking 8:30 and a half hour first inning.I feel like Keith for a brief moment. Zooop, it's gone.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Hey, Kong. That redirect link isn't working. There's a space in there, I think, giving folks a %22 in the URL string.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Since I was crawling all over Pagan's bone-headedness last night I feel obligated to give him his due for that play to end the last inning.Nice player but jeez is he an idiot baserunner.
Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Nice get by Pagan and two nice throws to get Gonzalez at the plate. That was great to see.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 And how about Timmy Redding holding his own here?
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Redding's had a couple decent games in his last couple starts. We're sure it's him, right?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Great bunt.Love to see the push bunt.Prefer when the Mets do it.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 2009: The Year of the Sacrifice Bunt.We ended up sacrificing our whole roster.
Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Nobody holds his own like Timmy. ;-)
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Well, that had almost been a game.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Ain't scoring enough.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 This is the second game - well, it's about the millionth really but second one recently - where the "real" save was in the 8th inning; tie game on the road, middle of their order coming up; got to shut 'em down NOW or else you're in trouble, etc. The Misch-v-Cubs games was the other I'm thinking of from just this past week.Anyway, it's a situation that cries out for using Frankie Rodriguez in that spot rather than "saving him" for the lead which may never - and in both cases DID never - materialize. Of course he eventually DID go to him last night but the horse was already out of the barn at that point. Now I know it's tough to blame Jerry solely for it because we all know that every single manager in MLB would play it the exact same way: managing by the 'save rule', and, yeah, the real culprit was not scoring enough runs, but jeez it would be nice to see some time.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I've been broken, and I've gotten to the point where I do blame Jerry. He had as broad a talent base as any bullpen should have, and he frittered it away trying to build a bridge to ninth-inning glory for Rodriguez that never came.
