Sheffield hits some great foul balls!

Um... 80 pitches through 5 innings, with 1 hit allowed.

So... he's pulled for Misch? Really?

Redding generally does well against the Phils... and he was cruising. And he'd thrown 81 pitches.

(AND, if you're feeling a bit cynical... he's a FA after the year. If it's the pitch count that had him coming out... then why the f*ck is he on a hard pitch count?)

It's loony, isn't it? What's the matter with people?

Only in 2009 Flushing moment # 739:

Anderson Hernandez... pinch-hitter.

I tell you, nothing celebrates former championships like handing current legends like Dave Williams and Tim Redding the ball to start.

Nothing celebrates the legacy of Gil Hodges like the manager pulling a cruiisng pitcher throwing his best game of the season after 81 pitches because of delusions that he's going to find the magic formula to a bulletproof bullpen.

There may have been other managers I've disliked more. But I don't think there's been a single Met skipper who's turned my language as dirty as our own Gangsta-in-Chief.

Cohen mentioned a pitch count when he was setting the game up, still as noted he was cruising and a win tonight would have capped a nice night.

I don't remember much bitching about the Ryan deal, not even from Dick Young or the Otis trade

Fregosi sucked and Foy was a drug addict

I was out playing poker tonight so i missed the game, looking at the box score i need to ask: why was Redding pulled after only 5 solid innings and 80 pitches?

I still liked both Howe and Randolph less, Randolph had alot more to work with in 2007 (and the poor start to 2008) than Jerry has left standing this year, and this team did ok even with Delgado and Reyes hurt, it wasn't until Beltran joined them that the team really blew up.
