Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 (edited) This may have been mentioned elsewhere, but it seems like they've found Pedro some LH company out in the pen in the form of one-time Boston prospect Casey Fossum [2 starts, 11 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 5 BB, 13 K in Buffalo]Odd that they'd use Figueroa for just one game knowing he'd need to be exposed to waivers before being sent back down again. Maybe they think he'll sneak through (although, at this point, why wouldn't the Nats grab him?) or that his decent outing Sunday will make him trade-worthy to someone. Edited April 20, 2009 by Guest
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Pedro Feliciano strikes me as the Milhouse of the Mets bullpen in that I can't picture him taking kindly to having help. "Hey, being lefthanded -- that's my thing! I came up with it!"
duan Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 you hope that people are so close to the start of the season that their roster's pretty set and that nobody has totally worn out their welcome so you get to sneak someone through, having said that the nationals are *CLEARLY* an outlier here, and you're right, they could definitely do worse then figgy.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 It does seem strange that the Mets may end up losing two pitchers from their system (Figueroa and O'Day) just because Mike Pelfrey had to miss one start. (And what if he has to miss his next start too? Will they lose yet another two pitchers?)But maybe they figured that Redding would end up bumping O'Day anyway, and that they'd have to risk losing him eventually anyway. I don't really go along with that. By the time Redding is ready, someone else may be injured and the need to expose O'Day and Figueroa might never have arisen.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I don't think O'day has been reclaimed yet.
Guest attgig Guests Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 ="Edgy DC":33myszhy]I don't think O'day has been reclaimed yet.[/quote:33myszhy]which seems silly considering how horrible the angel's bullpen has been.I think nationals and the o's would be a great place for figgy.
