Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 The Mets take on All Star and bad American Jake Peavy tonight, and counter with John Maine, a pitcher who loves the United States so much that he is named after one of them. They sit three games off the blistering pace of the Marlins, and hope to get above .500 for the second time this season, and above .500 at CitiField for the first time ever.PV was excellent his last time out, while Maine was hitting the nineties and striking Fish out, so this game could be as good a watermark as anything, if you're looking for that sort of thing. For those of you delighting in young Hundley's clumsley defense, it looks like the Pads are planning to use Henry Blanco as PV's personal catcher, his PVC, as it were.I'm 1-0 in IGTs, even after a disastrous start yesterday. Extend my streak.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 On my way to this shindig. Very xcited

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Gary says that the Murphy cut off throw to Reyes last night was by design , it's a play they worked on all Spring Training. Manuel said he saw it before with an ageing Greg Vaughn in Tampa.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Listening online. Won't be posting too much as I don't want to disrupt my streaming audio over wireless.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I hate it when the wheels fall off. Who's our longman these days?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Aflac asks: Only two players to hit homers before the age of 20 and after the age of 40.Edgy answers: Staub and Cobb.

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 STUPID FUCKIN FAN COSTS REYES A RUN
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Yeah, that's right. Get on the cell phone. "Yeah, that was me! Interferring with the game!"
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 When are these fans going to learn to leave balls-in-play alone?
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Wright K's looking and the STUPID fan has indeed cost the Mets a run.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Hey, scoring in the first and then hanging up a bunch of zeros. It's the 2008 Mets.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Peavy 114 pitches over 5 and he's done, lets get some runs back. oh and O'Day, could you please hold them here?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Let's get at that obscure and Sanchez-laden bullpen.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 It probably would have had to have taken (conditional present perfect imperative present?) a funky hot. If the outfielder fields it more or less clean, Reyes holds.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 its probably 50/50 at the plate, it depends on the hop and the quality of the throw but i'd think that with 2 outs reyes aint stopping
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Does Keith somehow not know what pizza looks like?
