Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 We kind of blew it off, but the Mets battered the Astros today. Visiting teams have been routinely losing (more than usual) this spring, but this Houston contingent included Matsui, Berkman, Tejada, and Erstad.Mike Pelfrey mowed the Stros, retiring the first 13, and giving the Mets brass and the press crew a serious love jones, to read the post-game reports.Jose Reyes double twice and drove in four and Nick Evans homered for the third time this spring, exceeding the two he hit in 108 big-league at-bats last season.Bullpen scorelessness came from Nieve, Green, and Muniz.Still no Puerto Ricans in the lineup today. Adam Rubin, meanwhile, boldly predicts that the Mets are giving Evans every chance to punch out Marlon Anderson, and make the big club to stay.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Alex Cora played. Carlos and Carlos will be back in the lineup on Sunday.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Beating the Astros is popular these days. They suck.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 They'll be OK this season, depending on how things break with Tejada.Anyhow, the Mets finish against them this year, instead of Florida, so lets hope they suck and are chronically depressed if New York is fighting to stay alive the last week of 2009.

He's hitting his way onto the opening day roster.LaterEdgy DC Mar 20 2009 11:02 AMToday.Frayed Knot Mar 21 2009 07:01 AMThe Astros won a game yesterday (Cincy I think) for what I think I heard was their 2nd win this Spring -- and their first since sometime in February!!I generally ignore Ws and Ls this time of year - but that's really ominous.LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Mar 21 2009 12:51 PM="Frayed Knot"]The Astros won a game yesterday (Cincy I think) for what I think I heard was their 2nd win this Spring -- and their first since sometime in February!!I generally ignore Ws and Ls this time of year - but that's really ominous.Well, come on now-- look at all the guys sitting out or WBCing! Why, there's Oswalt, and.. well... and...Yeah, that's pretty ominous.Edgy DC Mar 21 2009 12:52 PMWell, Tejada was out there until just recently also.LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Mar 21 2009 01:01 PMFair enough... but Tejada, Taveras, and Carlos Lee all got back 10-12 days ago. Guys like Berkman, Hunter Pence and virtually their entire pitching staff and roster besides the aforementioned have been there since March began.
