Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Hope we get this in.Just cause I can see it on TV.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Thats a great lead-off bmfc1.Thank you.

If you're interested, I posted the call-ups in another thread.I am and I checked that out. Also heard the booth comments. As everyone knows and says its good to have the extra arms.Interesting about how Valentine didn't like the 40 man roster thing. They've been doing that forever, haven't they?
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Note to Pedro:Try and keep the pitch from the center of the plate.0-2 Fish.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I don't have high hopes for this game. Our best chance for magic-number-reduction today is to have Carlos Zambrano beat the Phillies.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Bobby liked the old days when rosters were larger (28 guys) for the first few weeks of the year, rather than at the end.I think bringing that back would be nice, in addition to getting a chance to see whether Spring Training Superstars can keep it up during the regular season, trades and drama would accompany the early season "cut-down day."

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2008 Author Posted August 31, 2008 I understand what Jerry has said about over-crowding the locker room and possible affecting team chemistry, but what if you have an 18-inning game? What if it's a 1-run game, Castro is on 1st, and you have run out of pinch runners? I would rather have too many than too few.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2008 Author Posted August 31, 2008 If they had a 28-man roster at the start of the season, which makes sense, then the owners would have to pay 3 more players a major league salary.Howie said that Ramon will be activated tomorrow so that means 35 Mets.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 The Marlins haven't won consecutive games at all during the month of August. The Mets need to keep that streak going today.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Nick the Stick finally got one!
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Evans and Wright with back to back jacks.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Don't be impressed by the knowledge of fantasy leaguers. The game they know is an abstraction of the real game.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 First career jack for Evans, finally delivering that power Omar has been talking up.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 ooo, Evans taking chances out there in left.A double no matter how you slice it,imo.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Nice curve on the corner gets us outta that.Whew.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Woulda demanded Pedro retire on the spot if he didn't get that.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Pedro and I have no problems. He may be the bullpen savior we need.

I live a baseball season and I don't find much enjoyment out of picking a bunch of players on different teams and hope they score me pointsto win a contest. The real contest is between the lines.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Phils already up 3-0 in the first vs. Zambrano's replacement.More runs, please!
Guest KC Guests Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 No Phillies again on MLB tv package? It's a game with race implications.I don't know what channel it's on in Chicago, but our cable system hasn'tprovided WGN for many years now. Boo.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Huge hit for JReyes.Knocks Olsen outta the game.Nice.4-2 Mets. And yea, more runs please.
