Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 When was the last time the Mets made a trade that turned out much better for one team or the other? I'm having trouble of thinking of many that stand out where it's very easy to say the Mets either did the reaming or got reamed. One is the Bannister trade. I think it's safe to say that the Kazmir trade also fits the criteria.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Benson for Julio and Maine worked out pretty well for us.Neither of the prospects we traded to Florida for LoDuca have made the majors yet and haven't exactly impressed in the minors, either. The Bell/Ring for Johnson/Atkins trade was also a total bust for us.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2008 Author Posted June 7, 2008 Yabbut, LoDuca was really not special for us. I don't consider that a trade where the Mets reamed seomeone. I don't think ten years from now that trade will be remembered as such.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 before kazmir the last major ripoff i can remember is the deal getting Olerud to the Mets
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 If Benson for Julio and Maine doesn't do it for you...

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2008 Author Posted June 7, 2008 Blatant steals may be slightly stronger than what I meant but sure that's a way to put it.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Well, yeah, semantics and all that. What exactly did you mean by "much better" in your initial question, then?
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2008 Author Posted June 7, 2008 In my last post I said go with "blatant steals". Or that's what I meant to say. I'm not feeling especially coherent right now. I'm getting old.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Heath Bell and Royce Ring to San Diego for Ben Johnson and Jon Adkins is looking pretty darn blatant this weekend.
