Great game. Found some excellent seats at cheap prices -- I may never be able to go back to the Mezzanine ever again. Couldn't believe that they actually have waiters that bring your food to your seats.

I was in the Soupcan Section Friday night, just a few boxes behind the Mets on-deck circle but we were unimpressed with the service from our personal handjobber, who was schmoozing with half the people and ignoring the other half. Didn't matter. The corned beef sandwhich stand was an easy get behind us. Quality Shea food, but $12.50 or something.

Actor Oliver Platt, who played Steinbrenner in Bronx is Burning, was sitting one section over. He was decked out in black jersey/black hat with his son (?) also in uniform.

I wonder how much of it is Show stepping up, and how much is it Willie using him against a higher percentage of lefties this year.

But yeah, Show's been pretty awesome.

You know Schoeneweis did have a torn hammy ligament that he was pitching with all last year.

That may be so, but Show's 07 platoon split numbers weren't too far off his career splits.

2007 BA / OBP / SLG:
Vs RHB: .316 / .390 / .574
Vs LHB: .204 / .308 / .247

Career BA / OBP / SLG:
Vs RHB: .292 / .364 / .465
Vs LHB: .224 / .299 / .292

So, he wasn't really THAT much off his career numbers last year. I think his failure was due more to misuse than anything else.

He's a bloated, tatooed, obnoxious, "Got Rings?" tee-shirted lout. Every time I see him, it takes Herculean restraint to keep from punching him.

yes, schoenweis can be an effective lefty specilaist, but the mets clearly didnt see him in that role when they gave him a 3 year multi million dollar deal.

Using the word clearly in this manner rings an alarm. It usually implies there is supposition and guesswork, not evidence.
