Maybe he gets the benefit of being the guy who replaced the guy who replaced Gary Cohen, rather than being the buy who replaced Gary Cohen, but from what I've heard so far, I'm ok with Wayne Hagin.

I think Tom McCarthy had a better voice, and maybe was a bit more polished, but I found the way he called a game just maddening. Too many times I had no idea what the fuck was going on. Plus he just sounded too damn excited when the opposition scored and that pissed me off.

Wayne just seems ok. Not great, not terrible.

From what I have heard I like him , actually I have been listening to more radio lately , Howie told the Choo Choo Coleman with Ralph Kiner story during the game yesterday and Hagin got a huge kick out of it, he has that newness to him , I dunno I kinda liked that moment.

Yeah, he's OK. McCarthy couldn;t call the action briskly enough and it drove me crazy.

Hagin got me though the Heilman-Cubs meltdown without my leaping off the Williamsburg bridge (upon which I was jogging) and after it became a blowout told a pretty good story about Angel Hernandez getting a public dis at Wrigley Field from the Bears' Steve McMichael.

I've been meaning to write that, too. Actually I listened to Hagin way back when I lived in California in the early '80's and he did Giants and A's games. Much better than Tom McCarthy.

I agree w/the positive reviews. He stays with the action, interacts well with Howie Rose (which might be tough for him because he's not used to being the #2 guy), has a good voice, and provides the right amount of detail for the unusual plays. The only beef I have thus far is that his examples and references are for non-Mets teams and players. I don't care that a similar play happened to the Cardinals or Rockies... did it happen to a Met? He needs to read [u:9937f2297d]MBTN [/u:9937f2297d]and the media guide.

I think that's all part of the learning process for Hagin , and really he couldn't be with a better tutor than Rose in regards to Mets history.
