Guest AG/DC Guests Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 My solid black hat (stupid 2000 NL Champs patch on the side) has the Mets standard orange insignia with a blue insigna with a a white aura stamped over it., leaving the orange behind it as some sort of weak drop shadow. Is there some lincensing rule preventing them from just wearing the orange insignia on the black hat, which would essentially give them the New York Giants hat? Do the San Franciscos somehow retain the right to the insignia when it's rendered in orange against black?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 I was wondering about that, too.I think the NY insignia on both versions of the black cap are too crowded. Even the blue-brim cap might look better with a simple orange insignia on the black crown.
Batty31 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Edgy, I won't show you my two black Met caps that don't have a trace of orange or blue on them. One of them has a solid black NY logo. Actually, come to think if it, I own 3 Met black caps without any blue and orange.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 I just noticed that ESPN's Gamecast has the old NY Giants logo (no blue, no white, just orange on black) representing the Mets today. Can't say how long it's been like that.
