stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 A Shea "retired number" will join 37, 14, 41 and 42 at Shea this year and Citi Field next year
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2008 Author Posted April 4, 2008 Well it's a good thing, since this is pretty much all that they have of Bill Shea at Shea right nowJust his HOF bust and a picture of him in the lobby at one of his opening day appearances. And it's about time as well!
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 i don't like it. have a plaque, have a sign, have anything BUT a jersey with a number on it. retired jerseys with numbers should only be for players who wore that number.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 They could retire 62 for him and nobody would care
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Would be nice if the Met memorobilia and tributes were at least in a reachable spot in the new place and not too hard to find amongst all the Jackie tributes.I don't really have a problem with naming the rotunda area for Jackie, but his area should be in addition to NYM stuff rather than instead of or overwhelming it.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Mets.com promises us "an interactive Mets museum with club memorabilia and Hall of Fame displays," so genuflecting shouldn't be a problem.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 At least as long as they don't stuff the thing off in some deep, dark corner or make it accessable only by those on their way to the luxury suites.
