G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Just before the halfway point of this clip...http://www.vh1classic.com/view/playlist/1575088/191510/7_Ages_of_Rock_We_Are_The_Champions_Stadium_Rock/We_Are_the_Champions_Stadium_Rock_How_To_Rock_100_000_People/index.jhtml...comes much respect for Shea.Part of VH1 Classic's "Seven Ages of Rock" series, the Stadium Rock episode, no doubt to be repeated often on your digital cable.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Over 70,000 fans in attendance - wow!
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 All those people and the dodgy clothes the band were wearing.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 When I first read the thread title, I was preparing myself for a "why is this music thread in the baseball forum?" kind of post. But now I'm fah'klempt.Wow!A great honor to Shea.Never mind.Later
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 I thought it would be aobut the most hallowed turf in Rockville Centre.Which is, of course, the Pantry Diner.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2007 Author Posted December 22, 2007 I'm more of a Golden Reef man myself, but the Pantry's pretty hallowed.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Have you guys ever been to the Candlelight Diner in Commack? That's Western Suffolk Hallowed Turf

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2007 Author Posted December 22, 2007 Haven't been there in more than a year. Found it just fine in 2006. Then again, a lot of things I like were way better in 2006 than in 2007.Dined at the Pantry a few weeks ago. It was good rockin' in Rockville Centre that night. The worst diner news in the immediate RVC-Oceanside vicinity is the recent death of the East Bay Diner on Long Beach Rd. to make way for yet another CVS. That diner was home base for many years in the sense that if someone said "let's go to the diner," it usually implied that one.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Anybody up for a Crane Pool meetup at the Pantry or the Reef after Christmas next week?
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2007 Author Posted December 22, 2007 If you're in the neighborhood...
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 I am. Thursday and Friday would be good.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Of course, they used some 2005 or 2006-era Shea footage introducing the clip.70,000 seems a touch generous on the audience size.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 I was there. I counted 69,999 others. And I didn't count roadies and stuff like that.VH-1 is dead wrong that it's a magic hit single that propels bands to stadium-sized audiences.
