Mex17 Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Yep, Omar is looking. . .http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/2007/11/24/2007-11-24_mets_interested_in_freddy_garcia.htmlBest case scenario: The surgery and rehab takes and he puts them over the top in the division after the All Star Break and is a fixture in the rotation for years to come.Worst case: A perennially injured albatross who is signed long-term.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 the most they should give him is a two year deal, perhaps with a third year option. treat him, essentially as jon lieber w/ the yankees. build the rotation without him, and treat it as a bonus if he's ready by midseason. but i'm not sure he'd be my #1 priority...
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 If Pedro or El Duque have down time before Garcia can help, he won't do much good. I like the idea of them waiting until he's finished rehab before showcasing him, because I don't think he's a good gamble right now.
