TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Good win against Penny. Perez didn't look invincible, but went 7 only allowing 3 hits and no runs.Let's get another one tomorrow.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Nice win. I wouldn't mind a blow out win so Willie could give the bullpen regulars a day off. Meanwhile, the Padres are pounding the Phillies into submission. The Padres lead 14-3 goiing to the bottom of the ninth. I feel pretty secure that they should be able to hold on for the win.I think it's time for a celebratory Tecate.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 A funny thing about putting the article "Los" in front of the Mets is that putting articles in front of the team name and translating "Los Mets" into "The Mets" leads me to automatically read the Dodgers' road uniform as not bearing the city's name but making it look like the The Mets ("Los Mets") are playing The Angels ("Los Angeles"). I guess I never really thought of it that whenever the Dodgers are on the road, they're wearing the name of their crosstown rivals.Shakey bullpen, bah. Imagine how the loss felt for fans of the Dodgers and celebrate. Or fans of the Angels, for that matter.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 3 strategy goofs by Willie:1. The aforementioned bunt by DiFelice when there were no outs and two men on.2. The bunt by Gotay in the 3rd. Let him hit.3. The double steal in the first with Gotay as the lead runner. Fiesta Latina (like Merengue Night) tends to bring a fair number of people to the park who appear more interested in the concert than the game (ie. showing up in the 6th inning, etc). Lots of stupidness/moronity as a result. Wouldn't have gone but for the good pitching matchup. Glad to see Oliver getting a solid outing for the first time in what seems like a while.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 - Willie had some words with Gotay after the caught stealing so I'm not sure he called that one. An exuberant Gotay might have been caught up in all the running recently and gone on his own.- Same might have been true with the Gotay bunt earlier - although that one wasn't so bad either way.- Definitely didn't like the DiFelice bunt and ya gotta figure that one was called from the bench.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 I just looked at the tape of the game and agree that the first two were poor decisions/execution by Gotay.
