Moises Alou was everything we hoped, then everything we feared. With eight days (six games) until the trade deadline, we have to see if we can still afford to hope in him.

The good news is that what we primarily need from him --- production and protection against lefthanded pitchers --- will have a perfect test coimng up, as the Pirates will be throwing Tom Gorzelanny and Paul Maholm, a very good and a mediocre lefty, respecitvely, in games two and three. (Mets will counter with lefites Tom Glavine and Oliver Perez.) If he doesn't look shart in those games, the Mets may move quickly.

The pitching isn't set for the Nationals sereis (and the Nats are always rotating pitcers in and out of thier injury ripped rotation), but the Mets should be seeing at least one lefty between Matt Chico and Mike Mikd Bacsik, possibly both.

Hey, come on. The T key is only five keys away from the P.

I always thought a shart was a fart with...liquid properties.

If Alou starts sharting during games, I think that's a sign we may need to go looking for a replacement.
