Mets Fan book

I stumbled across this website today. A new book was just released two days ago entitled "Mets Fan" by Dana Brand. He's a Mets blogger is a regular columnist for New York Baseball Online. Seems like a very interesting book.

Guess what he has listed as a link on his website? Yup, the CPF (though unfortunately he has the old link up..we need to get that updated).

I think we need to get the Edgster to interview him and then he can pop by and plug the book.

Editing: I see he also has the Ultimate Mets Database listed.

I thought some people here might be interested in the book and perhaps it would help give the CPF some publicity if we get him to pop by.

Thanks for the kind words and the plug. I've fixed the link. I did start reading this forum in the fall, really liked it and joined in February. Then I got really busy, my link didn't work and so I haven't been back. I discovered this thread because my web statistics program suddenly showed that my website was getting a lot of hits from this site. So, you have this proof that you're active.

Ed and I will do some kind of interview here after he's read some more of the book. I hope to be able to contribute to the forum as well. If anybody wants to join my mailing list at my website metsfanbook.com, they'll get an invitation to the official book launch party in September.

So thanks, everybody. And of course I link to Ultimate Mets Database. That site, and particularly that wonderful feature where fans share memories, was absolutely essential to me as I was writing [u:1774aa2c3c]Mets Fan[/u:1774aa2c3c].

Where did you learn the rules of capitalization? Just joking!!

Are there others here? Professors of English are almost always baseball fans. It just works that way.

But they're not all contentious, argumentative pricks. Don't be too quick to judge an entire profession by a festering, worm-ridden, maggoty apple or two.

Some people from this and other boards have e-mailed me about availability issues regarding my book, Mets Fan.

The good news is that Mets Fan is selling well. At one point last weekend it was the tenth best-selling baseball book overall on Amazon (ahead of Cal Ripken and David Ortiz and I actually wrote mine).

The bad news is that distributors werent prepared for how well it would sell. Amazon had to re-order and many people who have ordered their copies from Amazon.com have therefore not gotten their copies yet. They will get them soon however as my publisher tells me that the new shipment was ordered on 7/23. Barnes and Noble (bn.com) also took a few days before it listed the book. It is taking orders now and will have copies very soon. The book can also be ordered now from BaltimoreChop.com, the only independent baseball bookstore in the United States. And the most reliable way to get a copy now is directly from the publisher, McFarland (mcfarlandpub.com).

Mets Fan should also be available in some brick and mortar stores in a few weeks. For a list of stores where it will be available, for all ordering information, and for any other updated information about the book and events related to it, please check out my website http://www.metsfanbook.com.
