Anybody recall the Queens Kings?

I had forgotten them until I got an e-mail a month or so ago from someone saying they should be listed among the Mets affiliates.

Tough call, but I'd say nyet.

The Mets were reasonably active in promoting this Blue Jay hybrid/Cyclone placeholder, sending Bobby Valentine and Benny Agbayani to St. John's to conduct clinics, for example. They also fixed up the school's baseball field to make it somewhat professional.

I never attended a game but I did see fit to order a t-shirt, immortalized here in commemoration of a night when the other Queens team became kings:

Like Lakers' and Vikings' and Rockies' uniforms, the purple photographs as blue.
