At least then he was just likening his running style to that of Mays -- and he's right, it kind of is. There could be 20 guys in the league right now as fast as Mays was in his prime, but that's a whole lot different from saying that they can play like him and you'll find a defensive CFer as good as Torii once or twice a decade if you're lucky. Speed's one thing but, unless young Carlos is catching balls while doing handstands down in AA there, scouts invoking TH type-of-D need to be sedated before going totally overboard.

Of course,I thought it was kinda funny that Gary invoked those two players when talking about Gomez..
