Memories of the Lead

In August of 2002, the Mets were mired in a terrible losing streak, where, not only were they not winning, they never held a lead in any of the games. In the midst of an IGT, slugger1138 mourned the loss of a short-lived lead:

Memories of the lead
It was fun while it lasted.

Re: Memories of the lead

It was a good, solid lead.

I for one am sorry to see it go.

When will be able to get another lead like that one anytime soon?

That Can... he's always on the make for his next lead. Such promiscuity. No loyalty to his last lead... No constancy.

oops. sorry. i mean't "constancy".

i for one, will sit and bear witness to our last lead until the Earth stops turning on its axis.

That's it. Misuse the word until it has no meaning whatsoever.

Walter, how come you let him hit it?
