metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Three active players have stolen more than 300 bases -- but have never led their league in steals. Can you name them?
Guest sharpie Guests Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 many people have never led the league in steals. Irish, you meant to say have never led their team in steals. I saw the answer so I won't say nothin' 'cept I thought Bonds was one of them but he isn't.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2007 Author Posted April 26, 2007 Probably,I just stole the question....two of the players surprised me.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Now checking back on Jayson Stark (the source of the trivia) it does say league but Barry Bonds never did lead the league in stolen bases. He was 3rd in 1990 with 52. I still think the question is really about team.(on edit) Even more checking finds that at least one of those players led his team at least once.

metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 after even more checking, i think i've identified the currently active player with the most career stolen bases, who has never led his team in steals.can you name him?
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 To Irish: Biggio? To MM: Steve Finley?
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Biggio I think led the league once. One of the answers to the original question is that baseball vagabond Reggie Sanders.
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 If Biggio is out than Finley must be one of the three.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 every player thus far mentioned in this thread has led his own team in stolen bases at least once.so if you're answering my question, cross:vizquel, finley, biggio, sanders, jeter, and bonds off your list of possible entries!
Guest sharpie Guests Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Julio Franco has led the Rangers in steals at least once.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I think it would have to be Royce Clayton
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 in 2000, royce clayton led the rangers with a whopping 11 steals...
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I'm still trying to understand the question.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2007 Author Posted April 26, 2007 Well I guess Finley,Vizquel and Sanders have 300 or more steals but have never led the AL or NL in any season. This is the second time I have used Stark as a source for trivia and both times his questions have caused confusion.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 my question seeks to answer the confused alter-ego of the original question!
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 no more guesses, or is my question too difficult to answer?
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 Just found the Q. One quick guess: Randy WinnBy Randy Winn, I mean, Bobby Abreu
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 in 2002, bobby abreu tied with jimmy rollins for the phillie sb lead, with 31. the next year, he led the team all by his lonesome, with 22.randy winn led the tampa bay devil rays in '98 and '02, with 26 and 27 stolen bases, respectively.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 ray durham led hte san francisco giants with 10 stolen bases in 2004!
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 indeed, jeff kent has never led his team in stolen bases, tho a mere 5 could have done the trick with the '94 metsies.however, his 94 career stolen bases falls a few dozen short of our man
